  • Orestes. Edidit W. Biehl. Teubner, Leipzig, 1975. LXI,158p. Cloth. Profusely annotated with pen by WGA ('ad usum studiorum'). Review K.H. Lee (Gnomon, 1980, pp.102-105) loosely inserted. Series: Bibliotheca Teubneriana.'The latest of the new Teubner editions of Euripides is also the most extensive. Besides a Praefatio of over forty pages, a detailed Studiorum Conspectus and Conspectus Metrorum, the editor W.B. hs included an Adnotationis Criticae Supplementum and a lengthy list of Testimonia Selecta to which are added 'loci similes' and 'imitationes'. (...) B.'s apparatus, which is clearly set out and readable, makes considerable progress on that of Murray, both in scope and in accuracy, and he has made good use of the fresh collations of Di Benedetto and Daitz's edition of (Ms) H. (...) It is on the whole a valuable contribution to the study of the Orestes, a play of which B. in this edition and in his work of the last twenty years has deserved well.' (K.H. LEE in Gnomon, 1980, p.105). From the library of the late Prof. W. Geoffrey Arnott. € 52.50 (Antiquarian)
