Hypsipyle. Edited by G.W. Bond. Oxford University Press, London (...), 1963. VII,160p. Cloth wrps. With Commentary, Appendices, Index, Concordance and Addendum. 'This is a welcome and valuable work. Mr. Bond presents a lightly restored text based on a fresh examination of the papyrus fragments, and makes some important innovations on previous attempts to determine their original order. He has also reviewed the indirect tradition in its manifold variety, from securely attested quotations, which are ranged with the rest of the text, to possible recollections of Eyripides' play and its plot in mythographic writing and elsewhere. (...) Whatever those who work on the 'Hypsypile' in future may do to add, substract and revise, they will have solid reasons for gratitude to this edition, both for the territory it explores and for its careful survey of the ground we knew or may have thought we knew.' (E.W. HANDLEY in The Classical Review (New Series), 1965, pp.24-28). From the library of the late Prof. W. Geoffrey Arnott. (Antiquarian)  (approx. delivery time: undeliverable)
