The Greek Tragic Poets. Cohen & West, n.p., 1959. 2nd rev.ed. XIV,274p. Cloth. Upper edge bit foxed. 'It is not surprising that this eminently useful book has run into a second edition. Mr. Lucas has taken the opportunity to make fairly extensive changes. The chapter on Aeschylus has been rearranged and considerably rewritten, though the light in which the poet is presented remains much the same. The principal changes affect the introductory chapters. By shortening the account of the political and economic background, Lucas has found room to expand the sections on origins, on the theatre, and on the dramatic festivals, and to add a section on the nature of tragedy which is characteristically lucid and sensible.' (R.P. WINNINGTON-INGRAM in The Classical Review (New Series), 1961, p.160). From the library of the late Prof. W. Geoffrey Arnott. (Antiquarian)  (approx. delivery time: undeliverable)
