Tra i pregevoli contributi pubblicati nel secondo numero della nuova serie di 'Dioniso', annale dell'Istituto nazionale del dramma antico, spiccano tre interviste/conversazioni contenute nella sezione Scena. La prima è un colloquio tra Béatrice Picon-Vallin e i protagonisti dell'allestimento di Les Atrides ('opera d'arte collettiva', in quattro parti, del Théatre du Soleil): Ariane Mnouchkine, lo scenografo Guy-Claude François, il musicista Jean-Jacques Lemêtre, gli attori Catherine Schaub e Simon Abkarian. Segue la trascrizione di una conversazione tra Eugenio Barba e Susan Joseph, apparsa originariamente in 'Theatre Annua', n. 53, 2003 (The College of William and Mary, Virginia, USA), preceduta qui da un'introduzione di Stefano Geraci. Nella terza intervista, realizzata da Valentina Venturini il 18 novembre 2002 a San Pancrazio (Terni), Peter Stein riflette sul suo rapporto con i classici e con il mito, soffermandosi in particolare sulla sua messa in scena del Faust di Goethe. Ancora nella sezione Scena segnaliamo il saggio L'acteur tragique, del regista iraniano Faryd Paya, il dossier sugli Eraclidi di Euripide per la regia di Peter Sellars (interventi di Caterina Barone, Oliviero Ponte di Pino e di Maria Grazia Bonanno), il breve ma interessante articolo Fedra al cinema, di Renata Lavagnini, sul film sceneggiato dalla scrittrice greca Margarita Liberaki e diretto da Jules Dassin nel 1962. La rivista si evidenzia anche per le splendide fotografie in bianco e nero, tratte dall'archivio della Fondazione INDA, che documentano gli spettacoli allestiti nel teatro di Siracusa tra 1948 e 1952. The plays are receiving scholarly discussion at Urbino in Italy (under Cesare Questa) and Freiburg in Germany (under Eckard Lefèvre). The Italian project is the more precisely organised. Each play in alphabetical order is the subject of an annual conference at Sarsina, the poet's birthplace, and the papers given there are published as Lecturae Plautinae Sarsinates. Five such conferences have been held, taking us to Captivi. Even more exciting, the plan of Questa and his colleagues is to produce a new edition of each play, in whatever order. Casina is the first (Urbino: QuattroVenti, 2001), edited by Questa himself; Asinaria, Curculio, Amphitruo are to come next. This will eventually release us from the tyranny of Lindsay's hundred-year-old Oxford Text.
