CUPAIUOLO, G., (ed.),
Bibliografia Terenziana (1470-1983).
Societa Editrice Napolitana, Napoli, 1984. 552p. Sewn. Carton cover. Series: Studi e testi dell'Antichità, XVI. 'This book (...) deserves praise as a useful if idiosyncratic reference-work. (...) The categorization adopted throughout is strictly chronological and on the whole admirably logical, with ist major division between editions and translations on the one hand (items 1-2794) and 'gli studi critici' on other (items 2795-5190). (...) The second half attempts rather less succesfully to classify Terentian studies other than commentaries integral to editions. A single straight index of scholars (more than 3000) conveniently marries with the item-numbers. But there is no index locorum. (...) The main value and interest of this compilation lies rather in C.'s documentation of the previous four centuries, in its remarkable breadth, and in its emphasis on translations as objects of interest in their own right. For the modern Terence-industy, C. regularly gives references to reviews both of editions and books. This is always very handy.' (A.S. GRATWICK in The Classical Review (New Series), 1990, pp.256-257). From the library of Prof. Carl Deroux.
