  • Meno. Edited with introduction and commentary by R.S. Bluck. Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, 1964. Reprint 1st ed.1961.VIII,473p. Original blue cloth. Spine gilt titled. Ex libris glued to paste-down endpaper. Pages a bit yellowed. 'Dr. Bluck's new edition of the 'Meno' is extremely welcome, both for its ample scale and for the high standard of scholarship which has been brought to the task. It does not include a translation, but otherwise gives all that could be asked for by anyone embarking upon the study of the dialogue. It is particularly full and satisfying from three points of view - it gives a new critical Greek text with a new apparatus criticus, the commentary devotes much attention to linguisticquestion and to the finer points of meaning in the text, and the long introduction and the greater part of the commentary deal fully with the interpretation of the argument and the philosophical problems which it raises. It thus provides materials for bringing together the philosophical and the philological study of Plato in a way that is very desirable.' (G.B. KERFERD in The Classical Review (New Series), 1963, p.43). € 45.00 (Antiquarian)
